About Panchatantra The original text of the Panchatantra in Sanskrit was probably written about 200 BC by a great Hindu scholar, Pandit Vishnu Sharma. But some of the tales themselves must be much older, their origin going back to the period of the Rig-Veda and Upanishads (from 1500 BC to 500 BC). According to some scholars of the Indo-European languages, the Panchatantra is the oldest collection of Indian fables surviving. It consists of five books, which are called: Mitra Bhedha (The Loss of Friends) Mitra Laabha, also called Mitra Samprāpti (Gaining Friends) Kākolūkīyam (Crows and Owls) Labdhapraṇāśam (Loss Of Gains) Aparīkṣitakārakaṃ (Ill-Considered Action / Rash deeds) This story about 2 friends is taken from the first book. The narration is done in telugu. For more videos in this series, please logon to www.edewcate.com
